Ernest Burton Spangler III (Ernie), of Greensboro NC, died Mar. 4, 2026. He was born March 21, 1953, in Evanston Ill, to Ernest B. Spangler Jr. and Jean Martin Spangler. Ernie attended Grimsley High School in Greensboro, where he lettered in swimming. He graduated from UNC-G, earning bachelor degrees in accounting and computer science. He enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar and socializing with friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his longtime partner Katrina Yarber, his four siblings; Karen Spangler Small (Tim), Kevin Spangler (Karen), Thomas Spangler (Laura) and John Spangler (Mary); as well as many nieces, nephews and their children. His life was celebrated with a private family get together.

Ernie was a friendly, soft-spoken fellow who was very easy with a smile and spoke kindly about all. Ernie was simply a very good young man—blessings to all who mourn your passing.
