Marilyn White Welborn
SEPTEMBER 12, 1953 – JANUARY 16, 2026

Marilyn White Welborn, of Boca Raton, Florida, went to be with her Savior on January 16, 2026, at the age of 72.
Born on September 12, 1953, in Norfolk, Virginia, Marilyn grew up surrounded by family and faith that would guide her throughout her life. She graduated from Grimsley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina, in 1971, where she met her lifelong love and high school sweetheart, Scott Welborn. She later attended Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina.
Marilyn devoted many years to her family as a stay-at-home mother while her children were growing up, a role she cherished deeply. Later, she returned to the workforce and served faithfully for 13 years as a clerk at the Midlands Technical College bookstore. Whether at home, at work, or in her community, Marilyn lived with kindness, dedication, and a servant’s heart.
She was actively involved in her church and found her greatest joy in time spent with her family. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life and a source of strength, comfort, and hope to all who knew her.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, James R. White and Vivian W. White.
She is survived by her loving husband, Scott Welborn of Boca Raton, Florida; her daughter, Molly Upton (Jason) of Boca Raton, Florida; her son, Paul B. Welborn of Lexington, South Carolina; her cherished grandchildren, Abigail Upton and Emily Upton of Boca Raton, Florida, and Charles “Charlie” Welborn of Central, South Carolina; her sisters, Linda White Corley of Lexington, South Carolina, Karen White Balderson (Bobby) of Isle of Palms, South Carolina, and Janie White Anderson (Mark) of Sebring, Florida; her sister-in-law, Amy Bacigalupo (David) of Lexington, North Carolina; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to all the dedicated caretakers and to Trustbridge Hospice for the exceptional care, unwavering commitment, and deep compassion shown during Marilyn’s final days. We are especially grateful to Grace Community Church for demonstrating Christ’s love so beautifully and faithfully until she was called home. To her cherished family and friends—thank you for your steadfast support, for never giving up on her, and for walking alongside her with love and faith.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life for Marilyn White Welborn at Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church in Lexington, South Carolina, on Saturday, February 28, at 11:00 a.m. A brief visitation with the family will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Marilyn’s honor to Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church and/or Grace Community Church Boca. These church families held deep meaning for her and provided comfort, community, and spiritual support throughout every chapter of her life.
