On Sunday, August 1, 2021, Kenneth "Zeke" Allen McKinney, loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away at the age of 68.

Zeke was born on January 23, at Mary Elizabeth hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina to Horace "Bones" and Edna (Stell) McKinney, the fifth of six children. He graduated from Grimsley High School and attended Guilford College where he played basketball. Zeke served in the Army as a military policeman at Schofield Barracks in Oahu, Hawaii. He worked at UPS for 19 years, but he really dedicated his life to his family, always showing up to help out when anything was needed. On December 10, 1982, Zeke married Mary Longenecker and together they had one daughter, Kelsey.

Zeke loved dogs, the beach, and basketball. After he retired from UPS, he began volunteering as a dog walker at the SPCA of Wake County. He delighted in relaying stories to his family about all the dogs he got to meet. Zeke enjoyed sitting in the backyard with Mary, watching the birds and playing with their two dogs, Mallory and Elroy. Zeke and Mary would go to Topsail Island every summer, where Zeke would play frisbee, ride bikes, body surf, and swim like a fish.

Zeke is survived by his wife, Mary, their daughter, Kelsey, and her husband, his five siblings, Katrin, Karen, Kittie, Kay, and Al, and many nieces and nephews.

The memorial will be held at Ritter Park, 301 Lochmere Dr., Cary, NC 27518, on Friday, September 24, 2021, at 1:00 pm.
