GREENSBORO JACALYN AUSTIN ROMANO, 61, OF Greensboro passed away peacefully Monday, June 1, 2015 at Wesley Long Hospital after a well fought battle with cancer. Her courage throughout was amazing. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Forbis & Dick N. Elm Chapel. Interment will follow at Westminster Gardens Cemetery.Jackie was born August 11, 1953 in Greensboro. She was very generous with her time for her friends and family as well as a loving mother to her two sons. Jackie was an avid artist; some of her pieces were on display at Artmongerz Gallery in Greensboro where she created her paintings. She loved working with her hands. She was passionate about her art, crafts, and gardening. Jackie was an advocate and supporter of The American Heart Association and women with heart disease. She was featured in The Guilford Woman magazine for her art and this cause. As well as creating her own paintings, Jackie worked as a freelance art teacher to spread her knowledge of her craft to young individuals. Jackie was also a lover of animals and helped them out whenever she had the chance. Her precious pets were Lilly, Beagle, and Tom Cat who gave her unconditional love and devotion.She is survived by her children Austin Romano, Nathan Romano, husband John Romano, brothers Charles Austin (Audrey), Ken Austin (Kirt), sister Rebecca Stevens (Gary), along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Jack and Maude Austin and brother Ron Austin. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2015 at Forbis & Dick N. Elm Chapel and other times at the home of Gary and Rebecca Stevens.Along with flowers, memorials may be made to The Cone Health Cancer Center at 501 N Elam Ave, Greensboro, NC (336) 832-1100 or to The American Heart Association at 101 Centreport Dr # 130, Greensboro, NC 27409 (336) 668-0167.Online condolences may be made at www.forbisanddick.comThe family is being served by Forbis & Dick N. Rest in perfect peace, my friend. I am sorry you had to suffer with cancer, but it's good to know you blessed many people during your earthly journey. Now your spirit can continue living, whole and complete, for eternity with your Maker, Jesus Christ.
