Pete was the President Emeritus of the Green Valley Pool gang, which means he was always able to get beer on the weekend nights. He and I were roommates after graduation, and we traveled the east coast, ending up on Cape Cod. He eventually got married and moved to Texas where he died way too young in an industrial accident.
He had a way of really getting your attention, like when he showed up at a Halloween party as Jesus. Good times...
I knew Pete throughout school and worked with him at McDonalds. If I recall correctly, I regularly stopped by his home to give him a lift to school. He and I never really hung out together on a social level, but we were friends and I feel terrible about his passing. I hope his brother, John, has been able to cope with this terrible tragedy over the years. I've known of his death for decades now, but just realized I never commented here. I've thought of him often..... a super nice guy. Much too early.... such a terrible loss.
Pete, I thought you were one of the kindest guys at Kiser through Grimsley. You didn't have a mean bone in your body; you had one big, beautiful heart—a young man who was kind to all. Whomever brought your soul back to our attention, I can't thank you enough. I think he died almost fifty years ago, and I can remember you as if it were yesterday.

RIP, my friend.

I sat behind Pete in homeroom year after year. He was such a nice guy and a good friend. What a smile he had! I was so sad to hear of his death.
