Mike was one of my best friends during high school, we always went out to lunch together. I knew him from sometime in elementary school until his death on June 18, 1998. We both had Mustangs during our senior year, my 1966 and his 1969 Mustang Mach 1. He was a great guy to hang around with and I have missed him since his passing.

I met Mike in biology class our sophomore year and we dated throughout the rest of our years in high school. Mike was a wonderful, sweet guy, whose first love was his Mustang Mach 1! He worked all three years as a soda jerk at a drug store near UNC-G to pay for that car and he took care of it better than anyone else I knew who had a car. We cruised the Boar & Castle, went to the Piedmont Drive-In (my first beer), and just hung out with our friends. He was 6’4”, I was 5’4”, and I thought he was the most handsome boy in school. We had many, many fun times, but grew apart when we went off to different colleges and lost touch. I didn’t hear about him again until Joan Bradley Cudworth called me to say he had died, way too young.

Mike Brown sold me my first car, a brand new 1976 Pontiac Grand Prix, lime green with white interior. from then Crown Pontiac. We stayed in touch whenever I would go to Crown Pontiac for service. We lost touch after he left Crown. Mike truly loved automobiles and was a people person.
